New headshot, new chapter.🤎

In January, I stepped into practice as a newly qualified Dance Movement Psychotherapist it’s been the most fulfilling and transformative chapter of my life so far.

The reason I decided to become a DMP is because of my own journey with my body after years of pushing it beyond its limits and facing the challenges of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), I wanted to find a way to move with care, compassion, and healing.

During my undergrad, a deeply distressing loss triggered my diagnosis of FND. I experienced involuntary movements, spasms, difficulty walking, chronic fatigue, and memory fog. After always having so much control over my body, it was overwhelming to completely lose it. For a long time, I didn’t understand the vital body-mind connection.

Taking a year out to rest, heal, and reflect was the best decision I could have made. It gave me the space to reconnect with my body and rediscover what movement truly means slowing down, listening, and meeting myself with kindness.

Movement has become my path to healing, and I’m honored to support others on their own journeys. To all artists and creatives living with FND there is hope.

Meet our Vehdance kids they have been working very hard on a special performance which will take place next week for parents and guardians. We are so proud of them all.💚💙💚

We are so excited to announce that for a second year, Vehdance & Movement will be choreographing for Derby West Indian Community Association in preparation for Derby Carnival 2025!

This year, choreography will be led by our founder and , supporting artist is Omariah. They will be bringing their creativity, energy, and passion to the rehearsals. Rehearsals have already kick off and participants are working hard, bring on this years carnival!!

Last Sunday, we had the incredible opportunity to take part in the Let’s Dance campaign founded by Angela Rippon at University of Derby. The campaign celebrates the joy and benefits of dance, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to get moving and experience the physical and mental well-being that dance brings.

It was a fantastic day, filled with energy, connection, and a shared love for movement. A truly meaningful experience, made even more special by the chance to meet the Mayor of Derby. 🤩💚💙💚
