YOU TOO CAN ENJOY A WIDER SOUNDSTAGE WITH STREAM S
This is how a happy customer described his experience of Stream S mains power cable in his music system.
He writes “– just to say the Black Rhodium Stream S arrived last week (super quick – within a day!) and I am very pleased with it.
I noticed an immediate sense of greater ‘presence’ around vocals and then over the next hour or two other changes started to become noticeable. In particular, the ‘wider dynamics’ you spoke of … at first I wasn’t 100 per cent sure what you meant by this, but now I’ve listened to it I think I do! The soundstage got wider still and more precise too, often moving outside the speakers. I also noticed that there was, at times, a vertical change as well, pushing the sound higher in the soundstage eg tweeter level and sometimes above. So the soundstage got bigger in essence and there was an enhanced sense of overall musicality too. There is also a greater sense of what I tend to call ‘air and space’ around vocals and instruments, which adds to the levels of refinement – and the 3-D aspect of the soundstage seems to have been enhanced a touch as well (this was already very good and is now even better).
The main reason I am pleased though is that it helps my system balance – Audioquest mains power cables have a rather ‘dark’ and heavy sound. By way of example, I’ve also listened to a Monsoon and that has more bass grunt but not quite the refinement, musicality and enhanced soundstage of the Stream S. In my scoring system the Stream S came out on top in nearly all categories. In essence, it seems to build on the Black Rhodium Xtra sound but with more refinement, musical ‘presence’ and improved soundstaging.
I found, by the way, that it worked best into my HiFi Rose 150B music streamer/DAC. I also tried it with my Audiolab 9000Q pre-amp and there were similar effects there – just not as pronounced, so I am more than happy for it to be situated powering my streamer.
