There's no law requiring a sanitary bin in a male toilet.
That surprises most people. The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 require suitable sanitary disposal facilities in female and unisex toilets - but male facilities? Nothing. Legally, you're not obligated.
Think about who's actually using those cubicles though. Men managing the effects of prostate cancer who rely on incontinence pads. People with stomas. Trans and non-binary individuals. The reality is that male toilets aren't exclusively used by people who don't need a bin - and yet those who do currently have nowhere to dispose of products discreetly.
Prostate Cancer UK's "Boys Need Bins" campaign has been pushing for this to change, and the conversation is gaining momentum. Legislation will likely follow at some point. Until then, providing a man-itary bin isn't a legal requirement - it's just the right thing to do for anyone who needs it.

Dig back through the archives and this is what CWS looked like in 2004. A small Renault Trafic, parked on a residential street, the name on the side and a phone number. That was enough to start.
What's happened since shows up clearly when you line the vans up chronologically. The fleet grew - full-size Transits, then newer models - the branding went through a few updates along the way, and around 2022 we started bringing electric vehicles into the mix alongside the rest of the fleet.
Quite a lot changes in two decades. The reason for doing it doesn't.
And there's one more chapter in the works. Watch this space. 👀

There's a certain type of complaint that no facilities manager wants to deal with. The one that starts with a member of staff coming to find you, quietly, because the feminine hygiene unit in the third floor bathroom hasn't been emptied.
Sanitary bin servicing is one of those washroom services that's invisible when it's working and deeply uncomfortable when it isn't. Fully enclosed units, collected and replaced on a set schedule, waste processed and disposed of compliantly.
At CWS, every service visit includes a full check of feminine hygiene provision across the site. Units are collected, replaced and the visit is logged digitally. Waste is handled in full compliance with relevant legislation.
It's not a glamorous service. But for any site with female employees, visitors or customers, it's non-negotiable.

You don't expect a washroom service round to turn into a wildlife rescue. But that's exactly what happened to our team last week.
Our operative Stacy spotted a peregrine falcon in distress mid-service. Most people would've called someone. Stacy did too - but she called our driver Alfie, because she happened to know something most of us didn't: Alfie is a trained bird handler.
He was working nearby, came straight over, stayed with the falcon and made sure it was safe and unharmed before either of them carried on with their day.
We talk a lot about taking pride in the work. Turns out that instinct doesn't switch off when there's a falcon involved.
Proud doesn't quite cover it, Stacy and Alfie. The hidden talents in this team never stop surprising us.
