For the final week of this term, our afternoon and evening classes experimented in different ways of working with ink, including printing (and stamping) techniques to produce these duck studies.

That's a wrap of our Spring classes, and a little preview of more printing fun to come next term!!

Enjoy the sunshine, and watch this space for our coming summer workshops and short courses 🎨🎨🎨

Finally, after 3 weeks of black & white, it's time to work with oil pastels, which are perfect for adding some vibrant colours to these pretty tulips!! We love every single one of them, well done afternoon and evening class 💯

This week our students faced the world-famous Eiffel Tower. Trying to draw it is pretty intimidating—because, frankly, how much of that complicated lattice structure can one realistically squeeze into a three-hour class?

So we took a different approach to keep the inner critics at bay. Our students began by smudging the graphite, before using a combination of erasers - hard, soft and putty rubber - to rub out the shapes and find the light, then going back in with a darker pencil to add accents. It was a great reminder that sometimes you don’t need to add more to a drawing to make it work—you just need to clear some space (on paper, and in your head!).

To our afternoon and evening classes: Before that inner voice tries to tell you it "doesn't look like the Eiffel Tower," look at how you captured the essence of it. Well done for showing up and giving it your best shot!
