Do you have a vision impairment? If so, there's an opportunity for your voice to be heard on the subject of health and the experiences you have had, whether good or bad, in accessing various aspects of health services. The meeting takes place in Swansea on Friday June 19 and is being organised by the Sight Loss Council's local action group in conjunction with Vision Impaired West Glamorgan,

This is also an opportunity to find out what else is developing in the Swansea Bay area and give your view on which services you think would be of benefit. The meeting runs from 10.30am - 2.30pm at St. David’s Priory Community Centre, St David’s Place, Swansea SA1 3NG (next to the Collaboration Station) with lunch and refreshments provided. To find out more and register your attendance, contact Anita on 029 20 473954 or email [email protected]

We have another new Welsh guide dog partnership to celebrate in the shape of Jodie and golden retriever King, who has slotted perfectly into family life. Jodie is thrilled with her qualification, and King is already making a huge difference to her confidence. GDMS Amy Jones said: “It was definitely worth the wait for the right dog! They have made a fantastic start to their partnership journey, and they will continue to flourish and grow together.”

Once again, the partnership has been a huge team effort. Thanks go to Vision Rehabilitation Specialist Dan Lewis for supporting Jodie while she waited for the right dog; guide dog trainer Leonie Goldman, who trained King to a lovely standard; puppy development adviser Karen Hood, plus the amazing puppy raisers who gave King the best start to his guide dog journey; and GDMS Delia Roding for her work with King before his move to the Cardiff team. Thanks also go to GDMS Amy John for qualifying the partnership.

What's the distance between London and Paris? Hardly anything, judging by this photo! It shows training dogs London and Paris, two yellow labrador cross retrievers, sitting together on a wooden floor with snuffle mats and toys around them. We're pleased to report that both trainees are making good progress as they continue their guide dog journey in Cardiff.

Trainee guide dogs like London and Paris live with a foster family for the duration of their training - usually about four to five months. They go to work when you do, leaving you free to get on with your busy day. Evenings and weekends are a time to enjoy their company at home or outdoors - your choice!
