Awaken Nature Healing

If you’ve ever stood or connected with a Cedar tree, you’ll know how amazing they are. And it’s easy to understand why so many different people and tribes around the world recognised the Cedar as a connection to the divine and spiritual realms.
This Western Red Cedar, Thuja Plicata, a tree I regularly go and spend time with is one amazing example. It’s huge, and there is a sense of peace, rootedness, and belonging when you stand with the tree that’s difficult to put into words.
The Cedar is seen as a bridge between the earthly and heavenly realms, and with the tall trunk reaching up you can see why.
Connected with spiritual alignment, protection, purification, and clarity, Cedar has been used to build temples and spiritual place of worship in the past, one of the most well known probably being King Solomon’s in 950 BCE.
Native Americans would build ceremonial lodges and totem poles from the wood of the Cedar.
Egyptians saw the Cedar as a key to unlocking the mysteries of the afterlife, and would embalm Pharaohs with Cedar oil to provide them protection on their passage into the afterlife.
There are many examples, but how does this apply to us in these modern day times?
One way you can incorporate Cedar into your own peaceful healing rituals, and for me one of the most powerful ways, is to go and be with the tree, to spend time peacefully. In meditation, you have a sense of being able to be completely grounded and steady. Rooted and protected by a powerful guardian as you connect to more divine realms. Or you could burn Cedar as incense to cleanse and purify negative energies, and bring clarity and peace of mind.
You can also make a tea from the leaves, which will help with respiratory issues, or inhale the steam from infusing the leaves in boiled water as you would with other evergreens such as Pine or Redwood.
Ultimately, trees like this feel essential for the times we live in. They become places that feel everlasting, reminding us of endurance and resilience. Nature herself provides living temples, and it’s easy to see why it is thought that trees are living embodiments of divine wisdom.
