With fuel prices climbing again in the news, now is a reminder of something many motorists overlook: the cost of fuel can vary significantly within just a few miles.

Recent global events have pushed oil prices back above $100 a barrel, which is already starting to feed through to the pumps across the UK. Reports suggest petrol has risen to around £1.38 per litre on average, with further increases expected if global supply pressures continue.

But what’s often missed is how much local variation there is between stations.
