We were thrilled to welcome Jessica Toale MP to our new SAMEE charity building this morning!🤩

It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our new space, share the work we do to support neurodivergent young adults and their families, and discuss our plans for the future 💜

🎨✨ Creativity was flowing this week as we welcomed Ross and Tiffany from Top Cat Media Group for an inspiring industry session with our talented interns!

The day kicked off with Ross sharing insights from the creative world before challenging our young artists to think like real industry professionals. Gone are the days of simply creating what you love — what happens when a client is involved? 🤔

JS and TB stepped up to present their work to the room, confidently sharing their ideas and creative processes, while the rest of the group got stuck into the activities and discussions. The energy in the room was fantastic, with everyone fully engaged and eager to learn more about careers in the creative industries.

A huge thank you to Ross and Tiffany for sharing their expertise, encouragement, and enthusiasm. Sessions like these help bridge the gap between education and industry, giving our interns a glimpse into the exciting opportunities that await them.

🌿✨ Exploring Opportunities at Brownsea Island ✨🌿

Yesterday, nearly all of our interns enjoyed an inspiring visit to Brownsea Island, where they explored the island, connected with staff, and discovered exciting opportunities to contribute their skills and talents..... but most importantly, had lots of fun!!

We're proud to share some of their standout achievements from the visit:

🎧 LM has been invited to contribute to a project focused on making Brownsea Island more accessible through the development of audio guides, helping to create a more inclusive experience for visitors.

💚 TB has been asked to take part in a project centred around mental health and wellbeing, supporting important conversations and initiatives that promote wellbeing.

🎭 EG has secured a paid ventriloquist performance opportunity, entertaining children and showcasing his fantastic talent and creativity.

These opportunities highlight the value of providing meaningful experiences that enable people to develop confidence, gain recognition for their skills, and make a positive impact in their communities!

🌿✨ Spotlight on Our Inspiring Interns at Brownsea Island ✨🌿

At The SAMEE Charity, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible achievements of our young people — and this week, we’re shining a light on two of our talented interns who have started the first of a week week placement. They will be joined next week by another of our year 2 interns, LH (gardening).

📸 EM – Budding Nature Photographer
EM has been capturing the island’s natural beauty through a fresh and creative lens. From peaceful woodland scenes to vibrant wildlife moments, his passion for photography has truly blossomed. Not only has EM developed valuable skills in observation and composition, but he has also grown in confidence, showcasing a unique perspective on the natural world that inspires us all.

🛠️🖤 LC – Steampunk Jeweller & Dark Arts Artist
LC has brought imagination to life through a series of engaging creative workshops with children on the island. He has also impressed the staff so much that they want to promote his own business for all visitors to see!

Opportunities like this don’t just build skills — they build confidence, independence, and a sense of purpose. Both EM and LC have embraced their placements with dedication, creativity, and resilience, demonstrating exactly what SAMEE is all about.

🚆 SAMEE Interns Take on “Try the Train” Day! 🌟

This week, our SAMEE interns enjoyed a fantastic day out with South Western Railway as part of the “Try the Train” experience.

Starting in Bournemouth, the group travelled by train to Brockenhurst, building confidence with independent travel, learning rail safety, and enjoying the journey together.

After exploring Brockenhurst, the interns stopped for lunch and some well-earned downtime before heading back to Bournemouth by train.

The day was full of:
✅ Building independence
✅ Developing travel confidence
✅ Team bonding and social skills
✅ Trying new experiences
