Hatch Warren W.I.

Our November meeting was great fun! We learned a bit about the history of belly dancing, that there are different types of dance according to location and culture, and were mesmerised by Julie Brown’s demonstrations.
We even had the chance to have a go and learned a simple routine, wearing coin belts that Julie had brought along for us to borrow.
What fun! And great for the figure too!

Telling Tales

Now that the weather is getting cooler and evenings are darker it’s comforting to come together and share stories. This is what our October meeting was about.

Do you know why dogs circle round each other when they meet? Well, our guest, Fiona Birchall gave us the answer in her Tale of the Missing Tails along with 3 other stories from her repertoire of 200 or so. Whenever we meet up for a coffee and a chat about our family and friends, we are storytelling. Like us travellers would group together and at night and sit around the fire to share stories from around the world adapting them to their audience.

If you are interested in joining us, our next get-together is at 7:30pm on Thursday 6th November at Hatch Warren Community Centre. We shall be Belly Dancing!

At Hatch Warren WI we begin our Autumn programme on 2nd October with an evening of Traditional Storytelling from Fiona Birchall.
