I had a call a few days ago from a returning customer for whom I assembled IKEA furniture many years ago. She asked if I’m still doing assembly work. To be honest, I haven’t done it for a few years, but I decided to help out.
Today I assembled:
✅ 2 × double IKEA PAX wardrobes
✅ 6 × KOMPLEMENT drawers
✅ 2 × sliding underwear shelves
✅ Installed and connected 2 × TRÅDFRI sensor LED light strips
✅ Installed 2 × mesh baskets
✅ 1 × single PAX wardrobe
✅ 4 × shelves
✅ 1 × mesh basket
It was refreshing to know that the customer had saved my number all these years. I wish her all the best and hope the lovely furniture lasts for many years to come.
What a great day it was—one small side project completed, and another project already booked in for a revisit to assemble a few more wardrobes.

Been a while since I got back on the houseboat project, but this week I jumped into the bathroom build again. For anyone who doesn’t know, I’m a certified Schlüter installer, trained at the Schlüter HQ, so of course the whole setup is done properly.

We started by tanking all the bathroom walls to Schlüter spec. In the shower room I used the Kerdi Shower slope and the Schlüter Kerdi-Line G3 drain. The fun part was adapting a 40mm drain down to 19mm so it could connect to the Gulper 220 24V waste pump — bit of a puzzle but got there.

For the floor, I went with Schlüter Ditra mat and underfloor heating. Fully tested, all working sweet. Tiles are Schlüter as well, plus a bunch of other Schlüter bits throughout.

I had to jump onto another project, so a few things are still left to finish: connecting the towel heater, final plumbing, shower, drains, bidet, and sorting the heating/water system. I still need to solder and connect the LED strip into the floor profiles and run extra wiring for a couple more 24V appliances. Luckily my little hobby with low-power electrics is really paying off right now!

Slow progress, loads of changes along the way, but honestly I’m loving every challenge this project throws at me. Can’t wait to get back and grout the walls and push it closer to the finish line.
