SOL - Sharing One Language

It’s rarely what they expected.

It’s the sound of seagulls in the morning.

The first proper cream tea.

A walk along the coast after lessons.

The friendly “You alright?” from a stranger.

Fish and chips by the sea.

Double-decker buses.

A favourite local café.

And yes… Hockings ice cream usually makes the list too.

Sometimes it’s these everyday British moments that become the most memorable part of a summer in Devon.

Because learning English isn’t only about learning a language.

It’s about falling in love with a place, its people and the little traditions that make it unique.

Sunshine, seaside adventures and SOL... what's not to love?

This Sunday we will be welcoming another fantastic group of students to North Devon from Spojená škola Dominika Tatarku 4666/7 Slovakia, accompanied by the lovely Katarína Burgerová.
We are ready for a week packed with new experiences, friendships, and plenty of opportunities to put their English into practice.

There is an exciting programme ahead, including a visit to the incredible Eden project, where students will explore one of the UKs most unique attractions. Closer to home they will discover some of North Devon's favourite spots at Woolacombe & Ilfracombe, and Clovelly and WWH!.

If the forecast is anything to go by, we could be in for another week of glorious sunshine 🤞🌞. Here's hoping the Devon weather behaves itself and gives our students the perfect backdrop to enjoy the beauty that Devon has to offer.

A huge thankyou again to our amazing host families and our SOL team for making each visit to special. We cannot wait to welcome everyone in and start another week of learning, laughter and unforgettable memories.
