Some images of the Dementia Simulation that took place at the Uxbridge Campus this week.
The Dementia Simulation was led by technician Jason Hills with the assistance of our technician Daniel.
Jason Hills has been working on the foundation of a pre-existing Dementia Simulation that he has added to and created a more in-depth and detailed Sim that has been received extremely well by students and staff.
The simulation requires all involved to wear equipment that will hinder mobility and awareness, creating a sense of confusion, all involved have to try and complete everyday tasks ranging from folding and pairing clothes to trying to complete jigsaws puzzles, writing letters and making breakfast.
This is all very difficult when deeming the Dementia Attire.
After a group finishes, the team and staff are hit with a whole load of different emotions from the students. it's always very positive. And a massive eye opener for what a person with Dementia may feel like on a daily basis.
It's a close recreation of how someone might feel and the difficulties they may go through.
Feedback has been fantastic, and both Jason and Daniel have been praised by students and staff for the experience, as the simulation has helped the students with the research they require for their course. It was a great day π
