Today is the start of Eid ul-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, one of the most important festivals in the Isalmic calendar.
The weeklong celebration is marked by wearing one’s best clothes and going to the Mosque for prayers to thank Allah for all the blessings that have been received.
It is a time to spend with friends and family, as well as performing charitable acts for the community.
Muslims celebrate Eid ul-Adha on the last day of the Hajj; a pilgrimage to Makkah in Saudi Arabia. It occurs every year and is the Fifth Pillar of Islam.
All Muslims who are fit and able to travel try make the visit to Makkah at least once in their lives.
During the Hajj, pilgrims perform acts of worship and renew their faith and sense of purpose in the world. They stand before the Ka'bah, a shrine built by Ibrahim, and praise Allah together.
Eid Mubarak to all! ❤
