Despite the energy shocks linked to the Middle East conflict and Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, Latvia’s economy has remained relatively resilient. To sustain economic growth, Latvia should:
➡️ Improve access to finance and deepen capital markets
➡️ Strengthen the capacity of the public administration
➡️ Reduce regulatory barriers to competition and simplify administrative procedures
➡️ Accelerate the green transition and raise energy security
➡️ Address skilled labour shortages by improving people’s health and quality of training

Responsible business conduct (RBC) is about helping businesses and investors align their activities with the needs of society, today and in the future.
Doing so requires high standards of business innovation, investment and operation throughout global supply chains and markets.
As the leading international standard-setter on RBC, the OECD co-operates with governments, businesses and stakeholders to promote RBC by improving public policies, advancing business due diligence and enhancing access to mechanisms for reporting complaints.
Amid geopolitical uncertainty, rapid technological change, and growing social and environmental pressures, RBC is more critical than ever as businesses and policymakers face increasingly complex expectations and higher stakes.
Join the 50th Anniversary Global Forum on RBC online to explore how responsible practices can help businesses improve resilience, navigate an evolving landscape and offer predictability.

Scientific output from countries in energy and environmental domains has stagnated in absolute terms, while China's share of the top 10% most-cited scientific publications in these fields rose from 15% in 2012 to 40% by 2022.
