Track 2. La rencontre - “Il s’est passé quelque chose d’étrange”
The Encounter – "Something Strange Happened."
In a coffee shop, much like any passionate love story, Elise and Pierre's gazes meet. Something happens. They don’t really meet or speak at first, but clearly, something forms between them, lingering in their thoughts over the next few days. They will randomly meet again, and everything will turn upside down.
The idea behind the track was to have two instruments playing off each other in both a furtive and explosive way, creating a sense of tension. In fact, there are three instruments, with a deep bass coming in halfway to provide a foundation. All three were played on a Moog Matriarch, which made all the magic possible!
Track 1. Prologue - “Tout était en ordre.”
As many books or movies begin, the first piece/track sets the stage by placing the characters in their roles. Pierre is in a long-term relationship, has three kids, and lives a happy life. Elise, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be happy. She’s living “like a phantom.”
The musical concept here is to represent stability through a recurring pattern played on a Moog Matriarch, with strings subtly fading in to evoke a sense of happiness. As for Elise, well… there’s nothing, just as she describes her life.
