👀 From Automatic to Analytical: Comparing Instructional Models for Digital Source Evaluation
🔍 The proliferation of complex and often conflicting digital information demands advanced cognitive strategies to discern source trustworthiness effectively. Yet, many readers remain on “autopilot” or favor personal justification over investigating who’s behind the information. This presentation explores how different educational strategies can break these automatic habits and foster a more analytical mindset.

☝️ More about the speaker
Gaston Ignacio Saux is a researcher at the Argentinean National Scientific and Research Council (CONICET) and head of the “Text Comprehension and New Reading Contexts” program at CIPP-UCA (Buenos Aires). After earning a Ph.D. from the University of Buenos Aires and completing a CNRS-funded postdoctoral position at the University of Poitiers, he shifted his focus from inference generation to strategic source evaluation while reading in unreliable digital environments. Currently, his research team seeks to bridge the gap between basic cognitive research and effective, reflective reading practices.

👋 Whether you're a researcher, educator, policymaker, or simply curious about how research can transform lives; this talk is for you!

We don’t talk often enough here about the fantastic work being conducted by our Citizen Science research team. But as we hit the final stretch of building the Citizen Science Competency Framework - the culmination of one year of collaborative work and 160+ contributors! 🤗 - we feel this is a good time to highlight their work and how you can all get involved.

>>> Contribute to the Citizen Science Competency Framework, a framework developed to highlight skills, attitudes, knowledge and values that describes, characterise participatory research/citizen science researchers and practitioners!

👉 You can be novice and/or experienced participatory research/citizen science researcher and/or practitioner to participate.

3 short surveys are now available, and you can pick one 💪 , two💪💪 or all three💪💪💪. Your contribution matters regardless of how much time you have - deadline: 18 May 🙌

✍️ Survey 1 (15-20 min) Clarity & Usability: Is the framework clear and ready to be implemented in your organization, teaching or research context?

✍️ Survey 2 ( > 20 min) Validation: Should certain competencies be included? Help us reach consensus.

✍️ Survey 3 (> 20 min) Common Foundations & Visualisation: this questionnaire is meant to co-build common definitions and ontology; and how the framework is visually presented.
