Schoolmodem's Practical Phonics and Phonetics Series offers systematic lessons that facilitate effective performance in spelling, pronunciation and reading of English words. It is borne out of the yearnings of teachers of English and educational stakeholders to provide a separate text with comprehensive lessons on the aspect of phonics and phonetics, which obviously have not been adequately covered by available English texts. The modules of this book are creatively and systematically presented with a focus to establishing a step-by-step mastery of the patterns and rules of spelling and pronunciation within the English lexis. Class works and homework are given at the end of each lesson to enable pupils consolidate the knowledge acquired from the lesson. Since pronunciation is practical, an audio-visual CD accompanies each book, which contains comprehensive presentations of each lesson from experts. This will help a teacher get familiarised with the correct pronunciation of sound symbols and different lexical patterns, and also aid uniformity among users. Practical Phonics and Phonetics is designed to be used as a class textbook in the normal way or for self study where necessary. Pupils who use the book will not grapple with the challenges of pronunciation and spelling in English, and they will be adequately equipped to face the oral aspect of English at the secondary level (both junior and senior)
