On Le Monnot Theater’s stage, actress Maria Douaihy becomes a whole constellation of women—voices shaped by tradition, pride, survival, humor, and heartbreak.

In Al Qornet el Bayda, Lebanese playwright Yahia Jaber once again turns a specific region into a universal story. Through dialects, myths, rival towns, and unforgettable characters, the play explores a North that feels deeply local… yet strangely familiar to everyone.

As Maria told us: “These women are from the North… but women across all Lebanon can identify with them.”

What makes this performance so striking is its constant emotional shift—moving from realism to poetry, from laughter to tragedy, sometimes in the same breath.

A play that doesn’t just entertain.
It reveals something about Lebanon itself.
And about every one of us as well.

Swipe through the carousel for Maria Douaihy’s words.
