Support for Ukrainian and opposition Russian creatives
The situation in Ukraine is devastating. At ArtyGeneration, we are concerned for the artists and creatives at risk in Ukraine, and for those opposing the war who are now vulnerable in Russia. We see various opportunities being launched in response to these needs, and we would like to share this information. We bring together links related to art residencies, funds and general support and we will keep this page as up-to-date as possible.

The Russian independent cultural sector and the war in Ukraine
Now, during the time of Russian cultural isolation, we see a strong need to maintain dialogue and relationships with Russian creatives. They are megaphones for change, many of whom still share their voices and creation, despite being in a country where jail sentences, ostracization, and retribution are real dangers to those speaking out against the war.
In early March 2022, we decided to launch a small qualitative survey of the Russian independent sector to learn more about the effects of the war on international cultural collaboration, the risks for the (dissenting) independent Russian creative sector, and how Russian artists and creatives view the war in Ukraine.
This research is still ongoing, and over the next weeks, we’ll share with you what we learn from the research. Alongside this we’ll highlight artworks or creative expression by Russian creatives speaking out against the war.
Better understanding voices in the Russian independent sector does not mean that we stop thinking about what is happening in Ukraine. We continue our support: our support for those fleeing, our donations, and our advocacy.

Dear all, during these dark days we stand in solidarity with Ukraine and with all Russian people who don't support the war that is currently going on.
No words are strong enough to describe our grief over all people who became victims of these events. This war should be stopped!
Peace for Ukraine 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
