The World Pheasant Association is involved in much practical and active conservation of wild Galliformes and their habitats around the world. Our members, from nine international chapters, are the backbone of our association contributing their knowledge, financial support and the breeding of captive rare and threatened species within their care.

This delightful photo was sent to us from WPA member Alex Levitskiy. A successful breeding season with healthy chicks of the rare Cabot’s tragopan (top) and Satyr’s tragopan (bottom). These delightful chicks will go on to develop into some of the most stunning pheasants in the world-well done Alex!

All wild Galliformes are now under threat so captive birds are an important part of safe guarding rare populations of wild or even extinct birds. The WPA has several times used these captive gene pools to offer hope for reintroduction such as in our current Edward’s pheasant re introduction project in Vietnam.
