What goes on behind a request? More than you think 👇

Step 1️⃣ Translation. The translator takes care of the translation, and reviews and runs a check before sending their work to the proofreader.
Step 2️⃣ Linguistic review (or proofreading). The — which is not the same person who took care of the translation step – goes through the work of the translator and edits it when needed. They also run a check.
Step 3️⃣ Linguistic review implementation. At this stage, a 3rd person confirms any edits made by the proofreader. Usually, they mainly run a check and make sure guidelines are met (guidelines can refer to style, tone, terminology, etc.).
Step 4️⃣ Final check. The final content layout is checked to make sure it reflects the original layout.

These are all necessary steps to guarantee the quality of a translation. Now, if…

👭 You work with a translation – this is the standard process they should have in place. Some translation agencies and language service providers might skip a step for lowering the overall cost and increasing their margins.
🧑‍💻 You work with a translator – most of the time, a freelance translator works solo. In some cases, they pair up with another translator for implementing a process similar to the one illustrated above.

How do you know how many steps you’re actually paying for? It’s as simple as asking (and now you can compare and challenge the answer of your service provider).

Once again – and is what motivated us when we decided to hire Aurélie. She had a previous experience in custumer service and project managing, but wanted to gain experience by joining a company that does business internationally 🚀 She has been discovering with great energy (and patience) the amazing world of , and . Believe me when I say that it’s a real jungle – Kudos to her for keeping up with the daily tasks! Let’s hear what she has to say…

🧑‍💻 What’s your background?

Like Yohann, I am also from Lyon. I have a bachelor degree in Management & International Business and I am attending a master’s program in Project Management . I opted for an apprenticeship contract to allay theory and practice - I truly believe that this is the best and fastest way to learning new skills. To put my work life aside, I always have been passionate by travelling and discovering new cultures.

💼 What’s your role at uptimaz?

I am a Junior Project Manager! I help with most of the daily tasks related to managing translation and optimisation projects. I have started by screening and onboarding new vendors and replying to any questions they might have, and soon I will be handling small projects from beginning to end. This is a challenging experience, which is exactly what I need to stay motivated.

🍰 … and your favourite dessert?

My favourite desert is ‘mikate’, a Congolese beignet that you eat with peanut butter… it tastes AMAZING!!!
