Time to switch off and unplug!

After a jam-packed few weeks, I’m taking a well-deserved holiday. It's time to relax, recharge, and enjoy some quality time away.

So for the next ten days, I'll be offline and unreachable, fully embracing the holiday spirit. It’s been a while since I disconnected completely, and I honestly can’t wait!

One of the nuggets of wisdom I picked up many moons ago when I was an intern in a translation agency was to always underpromise and overdeliver. It’s something I’ve continued to apply throughout my career.

When it comes to medical translations, accuracy is the absolute minimum requirement. As a medical translator, I understand that the stakes are high and that any errors in translation could have serious consequences. That's why I always take the time to thoroughly research the topic at hand and ensure that my translations are not only accurate but also culturally appropriate.

But accuracy alone is not enough. I also strive to make sure that my translations are easy to read and understand. That means using plain language wherever possible and providing context when necessary.

For me, “overdelivering” also means being responsive and communicative throughout the translation process, delivering projects early if I can, and in some cases even helping to improve a source text. At the end of the day, I believe that the key to success as a freelance medical translator is to always put the client first and to consistently deliver work that exceeds their expectations. It's not always easy, but it's always worth it.
