Power To Sail

Not all 50-foot yachts are created for the same purpose.
What is the Eclipse Saros 50?
It’s not simply another motor yacht.
The Saros 50 has been conceived as a high-performance aluminium sports yacht — equally at home as a standalone luxury day boat or as a serious chase boat for larger yachts.
Built for owners who prioritise capability over convention, it brings together robust construction, intelligent design, and performance-focused engineering.

Planning to Sell Your Yacht? Don’t Skip This Critical Step!
Before any professional survey takes place — make sure your boat has been hauled out and the underwater section properly inspected.
A SURVEY SHOULD BE PROCEEDURAL NOT A STUMBLING BLOCK
Whether it’s a motor yacht or sailing yacht, a clean bill of health below the waterline can make or break a sale. Here’s what to check:
Through-hull fittings – corrosion or leaks here are red flags for any buyer.
Rudders & rudder bearings – any play or resistance could indicate bigger issues.
Propeller shafts & bearings – ensure smooth rotation and alignment.
Stern glands or shaft seals – no one wants to see water where it shouldn’t be.
IPS or other drive systems – have them inspected by a qualified technician.
💡 Pro tip: Have the hull pressure-washed and re-antifouled if needed. A clean, well-maintained hull sends the right message to any surveyor — and more importantly, to your potential buyer.
Avoid last-minute surprises, renegotiations, or delays.
💰 It may cost a bit upfront, but it will save you time, stress, and money in the long run.
Selling a yacht is a serious business. Make sure she’s ready to impress — above and below the waterline.

Thinking of Selling Your Yacht? Here’s How to Prepare It Properly
Whether you own a sleek 10-meter sailing boat or a luxurious 40-meter motor yacht, selling your vessel isn't just about placing an ad online and waiting for the phone to ring. A well-prepared yacht sells faster, attracts better offers, and often avoids costly last-minute surprises.
Here are the essential preparations you should make before putting your yacht or boat on the market:
________________________________________
1. Presentation is Everything
First impressions count. Just like selling a home, a clean and well-presented boat sets the tone. That means:
• A full interior and exterior deep clean (yes, even the bilges).
• Polished stainless steel and refreshed teak decks.
• Professionally staged interiors—think cushions, throws, even flowers for photos.
• Remove personal clutter—buyers want to picture their life aboard.
________________________________________
2. Fix What’s Broken – Or Be Honest
Buyers will inspect everything. Sticky hatches, non-working nav lights, water-stained headliners—it all matters. If you know something’s wrong, fix it or disclose it.
Should You Get a Pre-Sale Survey?
Yes—smart sellers do. A pre-sale survey (commissioned by the owner) can be a powerful selling tool:
• It shows you’re serious and transparent.
• It gives you the opportunity to fix issues before they become deal-breakers.
• It can help you set a fair and defensible asking price.
• It builds buyer trust—especially if you can demonstrate that items flagged in the survey have already been rectified.
Just be prepared: once you commission a survey, you are morally (and in some cases legally) obligated to disclose its contents.
________________________________________
3. Service the Machinery
• Engines, generators, watermakers, AC systems—they should all be freshly serviced with receipts available.
• If your yacht hasn’t moved in months, take it for a proper run to ensure everything is operational.
• For sailing yachts, inspect and service rigging, winches, and sails.
A sea trial is inevitable—make sure it doesn’t end with smoke, alarms, or dead batteries.
________________________________________
4. Sort the Paperwork
Missing or messy documents delay or even kill deals. Get these in order:
• Builder’s certificate, registration, and proof of ownership.
• VAT/Tax status (especially important for European sales).
• Up-to-date insurance and any class or CE certification.
• Maintenance log and receipts—it shows pride of ownership.
• Inventory list—what’s included, what’s not?

5. Invest in Professional Photography & Video
This isn't a Gumtree listing. Buyers expect high-quality imagery. Use a marine photographer for:
• Exterior shots at anchor and underway.
• Interior shots with proper lighting and staging.
• Drone footage and walk-through videos for social and listings.
Many responsible brokers will include photography, v

Who's really keeping an eye on your yacht?
While your captain, engineer, and crew are busy keeping things running, **who’s seeing the bigger picture?**
As a yacht manager, I often find that the day-to-day responsibilities of the crew leave little room for proactive, long-term oversight. That’s where management adds real value.
Here’s a **Monthly Crew Checklist** I recommend all yacht teams use to stay ahead of issues that might otherwise slip through the cracks.
Captain
* Class/flag inspection timeline checks
* Crew qualifications and license expiry
* Budget vs. actual reporting
* Crew workload/fatigue status
* Conflict checks between calendar & maintenance
* Charter feedback or owner experience review
Engineer
* Performance trend analysis (not just fault logs)
* Oil sample results & interpretation
* Spare parts inventory review
* Pattern review of recurring technical issues
* Warranty tracking & open issues
* Safety system test logs
Interior Chief
* Deep cleaning tasks (vents, soft goods, storage)
* Inventory checks: luxury items, guest consumables
* Linen/uniform condition assessment
* Guest feedback and presentation standards review
* Morale and crew space condition
Deck Crew
* Full safety gear & expiry check (not just visual)
* Tenders, toys, lifting equipment review
* Deck corrosion/paint/teak inspection
* Watersports inventory health check
* Visual log of wear & tear
**Why it matters:**
𝗖𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “n𝗼𝘄.”
**A good yacht manager connects the dots**—budget, compliance, planning, experience.
If you’re not seeing that bigger picture, you may already be missing something important.
