UNITY FIJI DENIES FALSE SOCIAL MEDIA CLAIMS REGARDING THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
Suva, Fiji – [11th June 2026]

UNITY Fiji wishes to categorically state that there is absolutely no truth to a social media post circulating on Facebook alleging that Party Leader, Mr. Savenaca Narube, made any statement concerning the Office of the President of the Republic of Fiji or any purported offer of the position to the Marama Bale na Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa.

The Party confirms that no such statement was ever made by Mr. Narube, nor has UNITY Fiji discussed or taken any position on matters relating to the appointment of the President of Fiji.
We regard the publication and circulation of such false claims as irresponsible and misleading. More importantly, such statements are disrespectful both to the dignity of the Office of the President and to the Vanua of Burebasaga, including the esteemed position of the Roko Tui Dreketi.

The Office of the President is one of the highest institutions of our nation and deserves to be treated with the utmost respect. Equally, the traditional leadership and cultural significance of the Vanua of Burebasaga and the Marama Bale na Roko Tui Dreketi must not be drawn into unfounded political speculation or social media misinformation.

UNITY Fiji calls on members of the public to exercise caution when consuming and sharing information on social media and to verify claims through credible and official sources before accepting them as fact.

The Party remains committed to conducting itself with integrity, respect, and responsibility in all public discourse and will continue to focus on policies and issues that matter to the people of Fiji.
