Introducing Field Ready’s Cassava Harvester! Field Ready recently partnered with the Fijian Ministry of Agriculture to create a simple to use, build and modify tool to speed up cassava harvesting. Cassava is a hardy and nutrient rich staple crop for many South Pacific nations. It's an extremely flexible crop that allows farmers to grow it for both subsistence and commercial purposes.

However, it is difficult to harvest cassava using heavy machinery. Heavy machinery damages some of the crop, wasting valuable food resources for small scale farmers and rural communities. Heavy machines are also difficult to source and repair. Consequently, most cassava harvesting is done by hand and machete. This method is slow and strenuous on farmers’ bodies. Field Ready’s Cassava Harvester reduces strain and speeds up harvesting. Additionally, the tool can be made locally using available materials.
