Across Upolu and Savai’i, IOM has completed consultations with workers and their families, creating a meaningful space for open and engaging talanoa. 🇼🇸🗣️

Participants shared their experiences, challenges and aspirations, highlighting that labour mobility is not just an individual journey, it's a family journey. Their insights will help shape future support for Samoan workers and their families. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Funded by the Australian Government, these consultations are part of the Family Centred Assistance to PALM Scheme Workers (FCA-PALM) initiative which aims to strengthen support for workers and their families throughout the labour mobility journey. 🇦🇺

IOM extends it's sincere thanks to partners, the Labour Employment & Export Programme (LEEP) team from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Labour, for their strong support and collaboration in making this session a success. 🤝

It was encouraging to see how this initiative complements ongoing efforts while elevating the voices of workers and their families. 🌺

IOM is proud to join Pacific youth leaders for an important conversation on “Climate Induced Displacement & Human Mobility.” 🌊

Organized by Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change as part of the YUMI Rise Collective Program, the panel brought together a dynamic cohort of 12 Pacific youth, creating space for open, honest dialogue on one of the region’s most pressing challenges.

PISFCC’s leadership continues to shape global climate advocacy including its role in advancing the Climate Accountability Resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly. 🌐

Representing IOM, Imogen Nicholls, Programme Support Officer, contributed to discussions based on the the Pacific Regional Framework on Climate Mobility which embodies IOM’s work on human mobility, planned relocation and the realities communities face as climate impacts intensify. The panellists included the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariate, the Pacific Council of Churches, the Fiji Council of Social Services and the Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change. 🤝

It was inspiring to see Pacific youth leading these conversations, speaking up for their communities, their futures, and their rights. We are grateful to be part of this shared effort and to stand alongside young leaders shaping solutions for our Blue Pacific. 🌿

Building Family Futures (Langa Kaha’u Ma’ae Famili) successfully delivered pilot workshops across Tonga, engaging communities in Vava’u, Ha’apai and Tongatapu. 🤝🇹🇴

This reintegration initiative strengthened the well-being and future planning of workers and their families following overseas employment. A recent soft launch in Tongatapu celebrated the pilot’s achievements and shared lessons to help shape future support for Tongan workers and their families.

This initiative is funded by the Australian Government and implemented by IOM in partnership with the Government of Tonga.
