Svart Records julkaisee kasettiestetiikasta ja kolkosta dark ambientista ammentavan Harju-yhtyeen soundtrackin kylmäävään Verikyyhky-sarjakuvaromaaniin syyskuussa

Sami Makkosen ja Lauri Ainalan sarjakuvaromaani Verikyyhky on omaperäinen ja visuaalisesti vahva kauhuteos, joka sijoittuu vuoden 1992 Savonlinnaan. Teos yhdistää paikallishistorian, kansanperinteen ja nykyaikaisen kauhun ainutlaatuiseksi kokonaisuudeksi, jonka lukija pääsee kokemaan myös QR-koodien taakse sijoitetun äänimaiseman avulla. Kirjan musiikista vastaa Lauri Ainalan johtama Harju-yhtye, ja siitä julkaistaan laajennettu soundtrack-albumi, jonka tuo markkinoille Svart Records.

Harju on maailmanmaineeseen nousseen Paavoharjun entisten tekijöiden uusi projekti, joka jatkaa kokeellista rämepolkua uusille alueille ilman menneisyyden painolastia. Omintakeisen kokonaissoundin takana on Lauri Ainala, ja huikeista laulusuorituksista vastaa Anniina Saksa. Johannes "Ragnar Rock" Pitkäsen sävellyskynä loitsii melodioita rajan takaa ja Teemu Eerolan viulu silaa kaiken arkaaisella, m***a mädäntyneellä hunajalla. Flesh Master Mike hirnuu kuin päättömän ratsumiehen hevonen.

Albumin musiikissa yhdistyvät kasettiestetiikka, herkkä laulu ja melodisuus - m***a myös rämisevä kauhu ja kolkko dark ambient. Vierailijoina levyllä ovat mestarit Ville Leinonen sekä Joose Keskitalo, joiden sävellykset tuovat luurankoa visvaista suolistoa kannattelemaan.

Upeasti kuvitettu Verikyyhky on kylmäävä sarjakuvaromaani suomalaisesta kuoleman herrasta, joka esittelee karmaisevan, perin juurin omaperäisen vision vampyrologiasta.

Savonlinna, vuosi 1992. Syksyisillä kaduilla liikkuu varjo, joka saalistaa alueen vähäosaisia. Viranomaisia kodittomien alkoholistien kohtalo ei juuri liikuta. Nuori Jani ystävineen törmää öisiin hirmutekoihin ja saa kauhukseen huomata, että yliluonnolliselta vaikuttavat tapahtumat liittyvät myös hänen omaan menneisyyteensä.

Like Kustannuksen julkaisema Verikyyhky-sarjakuvaromaani sekä Svartin julkaisema teoksen soundtrack julkaistaan molemmat 18.09.2026.

CHTHONIC 閃靈’s award-winning 2018 album Battlefields of Asura reissued on vinyl in September via Svart Records.

CHTHONIC is a Taiwanese metal band formed in Taipei in 1995, with the members nowadays split between Helsinki and Taipei. With their 2018 album Battlefields of Asura, CHTHONIC won their second Golden Melody Award, Taiwan’s equivalent of the Grammy Award.

After their 2014 European tour, the band decided to slow down, and vocalist Freddy Lim began his political career. He was elected to Taiwan’s Parliament in 2016 and re-elected in 2020. During his tenure, he pushed for LGBTQ rights and gender equality, helping Taiwan become the first Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage, along with advocating for Indigenous rights and other human rights issues. Throughout this period, the band continued working on new music, and in 2018 they released Battlefields of Asura in Taiwan and Japan.

The album incorporates metaphors on human ideals and philosophies through depictions of Taiwanese deities. Musically, it blends East Asian elements with a mythological and ritualistic atmosphere. The lyrics explore themes of resistance, freedom, fraternity, and protection. Asian audiences may find deep cultural resonance in the album, while international listeners can be drawn into its rich spiritual and mythological world.

The album also features guest appearances by Randy Blythe of Lamb of God and Hong Kong pop singer Denise Ho. CHTHONIC and Lamb of God became close friends during Ozzfest 2007. Denise Ho, a Cantopop singer with numerous awards, was also selected as one of BBC’s 100 Women in 2016. She is currently facing political pressure in Hong Kong and is restricted from traveling abroad.

Finally, the album will be released on vinyl in Europe and North America in 2026, marking 13 years since CHTHONIC’s previous release in these regions, Bu-Tik (2013). The vinyl edition will also feature a specially updated version of the original cover artwork, offering an added benefit for collectors.

⚫️ Sisar is a new Helsinki-based heavy dream pop duo formed by Nora Moberg and Remi Rousselle. Their furious and hypnotic sound is beautiful and vocal-driven, but the heavy guitars and bleak drum machine form its solid foundation. The band’s musical influences include the dream pop legend Cocteau Twins, torchbearer of industrial metal Godflesh, and the pioneer of alternative metal Deftones. This metal dream pop band thus unhesitatingly blends elements from various genres. The result is a sound that is unique and distinctive; the music can appeal to fans of pop, metal, and alternative rock alike.

The new single Nälkä offers a great preview of the mood of the upcoming debut album. This hopeful yet wistful song explores a new relationship with loss and the ending of human life.

The music of Sisar is at once dark and hopeful, heavy and naive. Images of nature intertwined with fundamental human questions; love, death, and change are the central themes of the album. Sisar’s members have previously played in bands such as Rohkeat Kuvat, Nikita Titov, and Hebosagil. On stage the band transforms into a trio that is both heavy and delicate, with catchy choruses cutting through the wall of sound.

Sisar’s first two singles Aurinko nousee illalla and Lohtu sparked interest in the media and reached listeners through radio airplay. Sisar was also selected for Finnish radio YleX’s Tulevaisuuden tekijät (Makers of the Future) list and as an artist on YleX Noste (On the Rise) in February 2026. Their debut album, set for release in November 2026, will be released by Svart Records. Tour plans will be announced during the fall of 2026.
