New guidelines to help teachers lead Europe’s digital education.
As a teacher, you are at the heart of Europe’s digital transformation. To support you in this journey, the European Commission has released four new sets of guidelines.
These practical tools help primary and secondary school educators tackle disinformation, navigate artificial intelligence (AI), teach informatics with confidence and make informed choices on digital education content.
This summer 2026, the European Commission published four new sets of guidelines for teachers and educators, available in all EU languages, covering the following topics:
- Guidelines on the ethical use of artificial intelligence and data in teaching and learning
- Guidelines for teachers on tackling disinformation and promoting digital literacy
- Guidelines on high-quality informatics
- Guidelines on digital education content
EUIPO the European Union Intellectual Property Office contributed to two of these publications.

Additionally, the European Commission and the OECD have launched the AI Literacy Framework for Primary and Secondary Education, which is currently available in three languages. Further EU-language versions are expected to be published over the summer.
These publications are particularly timely. As Ministries of Education may be revising curricula and issuing recommendations on digital literacy and AI in education, the publications provide valuable background information and practical training resources. In this context, it is also important to ensure that intellectual property considerations are adequately reflected in these discussions.
