: Driving Ethiopia’s Entrepreneurial Future

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and SEED consortium partners, successfully hosted the SEED Learning Summit 2026 in Addis Ababa. Welcoming the attendees, Dr. Hassan Hussein (CEO, EDI) noted that in just two and a half years, the SEED initiative has reached 1.3 million young people and enabled 457,000 to secure dignified and fulfilling work.

The summit featured dynamic panel discussions, research presentations, and an exhibition showcasing entrepreneurs' success journeys. A key focus was the newly approved National Entrepreneurship Development Policy and the upcoming Entrepreneurship Proclamation, designed to reduce bureaucratic barriers. Highlighting the event's spirit, Mefthe Tadesse (Country Director, Mastercard Foundation) stated: “This is a celebration of our progress and also a reaffirmation of our commitment to the future.”

With over 5 billion ETB in uncollateralized loans disbursed and 100+ TVTs supported, we remain dedicated to enable young people and building a prosperous, entrepreneurial Ethiopia.
