A professor sent his students into a community to discuss a specific topic. For one group, he applied a visible "mark" on their faces, explaining that they should observe how the community reacted to their "disfigurement."

When the students returned, they were visibly shaken. They reported a difficult experience filled with cold stares, whispers, and obvious judgment. They felt the weight of social rejection and described the community as hostile and biased.
