Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos Holds Bilateral Talks with Russian Counterpart Sergey Lavrov

Ethiopia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, held high-level bilateral talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, during the latter's official visit to Ethiopia.

During the meeting, Minister Gedion highlighted the deep-rooted and enduring friendship between Ethiopia and Russia, noting that the relationship has been built over generations and continues to provide a solid foundation for the two countries' expanding strategic partnership.

The discussions covered a broad range of regional and international issues of mutual concern, with both ministers exchanging views on current geopolitical developments and reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting peace, stability, and constructive international cooperation.

In addition to their longstanding political and diplomatic ties, the two sides explored opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation in key economic sectors. They emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration in trade, investment, technology transfer, and other areas that can contribute to sustainable economic growth and mutual prosperity.

The ministers also underscored the value of strengthening coordination within multilateral platforms, particularly BRICS, recognizing the bloc's growing role in advancing the interests of emerging economies and fostering a more inclusive international order.

Concluding their discussions, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing Ethiopia–Russia relations through closer diplomatic engagement, increased economic cooperation, and continued coordination on regional and global issues of shared interest.
