The first energy self-sufficient village in Slovenia: Together to lower bills!
The village of Zavratejust became officially the first energy self-sufficient village in Slovenia with its two solar power plants with a total peak power of 50 kW. The village has 25 inhabitants that unanimously agreed on this groundbreaking project: a solar power plant on two roofs that now supply six households reducing the energy bills.The village also havs a 15 KW battery as a reserve for emergencies, which provides electricity even when there is no sun. This project will benefit both the environment and the entire village, targeted 100% self-sufficient RES (renewable energy sources) and will be followed up so that in the second year, the power plant will produce three times as much energy as will be consumed in the village. The locals in Zavrate will no longer pay the network fee, just for the connection to the network, and and some for the rental of the power plant. The estimation is that the bill for community members will be reduced by about 10% to even 90% depending on their level of contribution (ex house the solar panels on their roofs).
The Act on the Promotion of the Use of Renewable Energy Sources also just legaized the right to self-sufficiency.♻️
