In our consultation calls, we find that a lot of people aren’t always aware of the two main ways to apply for the Digital Nomad Visa. Some lucky folks actually have both options available, which brings up a big question:
👉 Should you apply as an employee or as self-employed (autónomo)?

💼 Employee Route: Best if you’re tied to one non-Spanish company. You keep your home-country benefits, but you’re locked into that specific employer.

💻 Self-Employed (Autónomo) Route: Perfect for freelancers with multiple clients. You have more flexibility to swap clients, provided they are outside of Spain.

If you’re applying for the Digital Nomad Visa, you’ll need to meet the updated monthly income thresholds for this year. 💶

Good news: if you find yourself just under the limit - maybe because of exchange rate fluctuations - you can often use savings to top up your income, just keep in mind that each case is reviewed individually.
