According to a study performed by Jessie Hagen of U.S. Bank, 82% of businesses fail because of poor management of cash flow.
When a cash flow crunch strikes, your decision-making ability is further impacted by lack of resources and fear, and this can potentially impact three main areas of your business:
✔️ Pricing: You become hesitant to look at your pricing model or experiment with value pricing because you are too scared to lose business.
✔️ Hiring/Firing: You hold off on hiring or firing because cash is tight, but lack of proper staffing ultimately affects quality, timing, and customer service.
✔️ Spending: You don’t spend in places where you should spend because you feel like you can’t afford to. For example, you may not do a marketing campaign because you are too worried about the ROI.

How do you know if your customer concentration is high or low? A rule of thumb holds that if any single customer accounts for ten percent or more of your revenue or if your largest five customers account for 25% or more of revenue, you have a high customer concentration.
For translation companies in the growth phase, it is often difficult to turn away business from a large customer. However, client dependence carries substantial risks and those companies that are diversified are likely to achieve stronger financial performance.
