Crayfish Toast – a Swedish classic, reimagined
Join us on our culinary journey around the world, and today we land in Sweden, where we give the iconic Toast Skagen a special twist – using our wild-caught crayfish.
This elegant dish is a Scandinavian favourite, perfect as a starter or light lunch. With just a few ingredients and premium-quality crayfish, it’s pure freshness on a slice of toast.
🧑🍳 What you need:
• 150g Alfocan cooked crayfish tails (chopped)
• 2 tbsp crème fraîche
• 1 tbsp mayonnaise
• 1 tsp Dijon mustard
• 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh dill
• 1 tsp lemon juice
• Sea salt & black pepper to taste
• 2 slices of toasted brioche or sourdough
• Optional: fish roe (e.g. Kalix löjrom) and lemon zest to garnish
🥄 How to make it:
In a bowl, gently mix the crayfish, crème fraîche, mayo, mustard, dill, and lemon juice.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Spoon the mixture over warm, lightly toasted bread.
Top with a little roe and a sprinkle of lemon zest, if desired.
