Legend meeting a legend ; )

Great to meet up with ex Manchester Utd legend Steve Bruce in Palma, Mallorca.

It was over 37 years ago that I played against Steve and a top Manchester United team for the official opening of St Johnstone’s new stadium McDiarmid Park.

We both remembered how the new stadium lights went out in the first half for over 20 minutes. As both teams were escorted off the pitch in darkness I will always remember one Man Utd player shouting “ Put another 50p in the meter ya tight Scottish bast$$ds.”

After the game both sets of players met up for a pint in the players lounge, there was Mark Hughes, Steve Bruce, Gary Pallister and Bryan Robson sharing stories with us, no superstar status just ordinary guys having a laugh. Big respect to them and I am not sure if this would happen after today’s games.

Great memories and always nice to meet up with old opponents.
