✏️ Urban Planner: Many view Architects as Urban planners, yet they usually do not think of what an Urban planner does for their community and firm.

⚙️ Restoration Architect: Similar to the Conservationist role, a Restoration Architect seeks to preserve heritage and culture via architecture and design.

💬 Political Architect: Some argue that architecture is by nature political, however being active in the political decision of a city or country is a different story.

✒️ Extreme Architect: With the current development of climate change, extreme weather conditions such as floods, heat waves and hurricanes are predicted to increase.

🔎 Industrial Designer / Textile Designer: Both textile design and industrial design focus on smaller scale objects of mass production instead of the large sized projects you think of when you think of an Architect.

📕 Conservationist: Similar to the message we concluded with in our United Nations Sustainable Development Goals blog, the role of a conservationist is to promote the conservation of the environment within architecture.

💼 Entrepreneur: If you are the type of person that sees opportunity in problem solving, then you are the right person for the job.

[News] Canadian architecture studio KPMB has unveiled images of Yale University’s new Dramatic Arts Building, a project that will bring the David Geffen School of Drama together in a single space for the first time since its founding in 1924. The 207,000-square-foot building will host Yale Repertory Theatre performances while supporting academic activity linked to theatre, dance and performance studies.

The proposal will replace the university’s currently dispersed rehearsal and performance spaces with a unified centre designed for undergraduate students, MFA candidates and the wider New Haven community. With this project, Yale strengthens the role of the performing arts within the university and creates a new meeting point between education, cultural production and urban life.

[News] The Miller Hull Partnership and Woods Bagot have completed the expansion of Terminal C at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, introducing a large timber-clad “tree” as the central feature of the new gathering space. The project forms part of Upgrade SEA, the Port of Seattle’s initiative to modernize the airport.

The expansion more than doubles the size of the existing buildings, adding four new floors and taking the form of a wedge-shaped structure with a gently sloped roof fitted with photovoltaic panels. Its undulating glass façade uses electrochromic glass to reduce glare while maximizing natural light.
