Have you ever wondered what would be the best way for brands to assess and improve their environmental and social commitments? It is to map out their supply chains. Disclosing this information to the public - transparency - also allows brands to be held accountable.

Tier 1: Factory Manufacturing – Cutting, sewing, assembling, and packing for shipment

These are the facilities where finished goods are made and shipped from. Most brands and retailers have direct business relationships with these suppliers.

Tier 2: Processing Facilities - Fabric production

Processed materials are turned into fabrics and later used for assembly. Printing, dying, laundering, and embroidery are part of this tier.

Tier 3: Processing Facilities - Yarn spinners and fiber processors

Raw materials are turned into fibers at production sites; spinning, knitting, and weaving take place. Yarns are spun, and dyes and bleach are applied in wet processes.

Tier 4: Raw material suppliers - Farms and synthetic material factories

Farms, livestock farms, cotton plantations, or any other supplier of raw materials.
