DSGE MODELS WITH MATLAB AND DYNARE:
The aim of this course is to provide the basic instruments in Matlab and Dynare for analysis and simulation of macroeconomic policies, with an empirical and “learning-by-doing” approach. At the end of the course, the student will be able to program and solve numerically the standard neo-Keynesian model of business cycles and to evaluate the effects of alternative economic policies. Class sections will be shared between James Costain and Carlos Thomas, macroeconomic researchers at the Bank of Spain, and Beatriz de Blas, from the UAM, who all specialize in using DSGE models for policy research.
