March 6, 2026 — In celebration of Women’s Month, the Supreme Student Government (SSG) in partnership with the Public Speakers Guild (PSG) successfully organized a meaningful and empowering event that highlighted awareness, respect, and gender equality.

The celebration began with a seminar on Republic Act No. 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act or “Bawal Bastos Law,” which aimed to educate students about the importance of maintaining safe and respectful spaces in schools and communities. The seminar encouraged students to understand their rights and responsibilities in promoting dignity, respect, and protection against gender-based harassment.

Following the seminar was the much-awaited Gender Egalitarian Ambassadress Pageant, where candidates confidently showcased their intelligence, poise, and advocacy for gender equality. The event highlighted the leadership and empowerment of young women, inspired by the theme “Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”

The organizers extend their heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished panel of judges, teachers, club officers, and students whose presence and support made the event a success. Special recognition is also given to the candidates who courageously represented their sections and inspired everyone through their confidence and commitment to empowerment.

The celebration served as a reminder that through awareness, education, and unity, the school community can continue to promote respect, equality, and safe spaces for all. 💜

Legazpi City – Creativity, culture, and student talent took center stage as the Junior High School Department of Divine Word College of Legazpi (DWCL) held its much-anticipated Literary and Musical Contest on January 30, 2025, at the St. Joseph Frenademetz Gymnasium.
The whole-day event highlighted the diverse abilities of students in both language and performing arts, while also honoring faith, patriotism, and regional pride.
The program opened in the morning with Part I: Spelling Bee, conducted at 9:00 AM in the JHS Library, where students demonstrated their mastery of vocabulary, spelling accuracy, and composure under pressure.
In the afternoon, the formal program began at 1:00 PM with Part II, starting with a solemn Homage to God, followed by the Philippine National Anthem and the Bicol Regional March, emphasizing the school’s commitment to faith, country, and local identity.
Opening remarks were delivered by Ma. Cecilia C. Arbo, MABIOED, Principal of the JHS Department. She underscored the importance of literary and musical arts in shaping students’ confidence, expression, and appreciation for culture.
The introduction of judges was led by Elijah Lee, LPT, English Teacher, while the reading of guidelines was handled by Francie T. Felices, LPT, also from the English faculty, ensuring participants and audiences were oriented on the contest mechanics.
The contest proper featured a vibrant lineup of performances and presentations:
