One day later we are still horrified by the multiple simultaneous terrorist attacks that have taken place in Catalonia. Many members of our Secretariat, Chairs and delegates come from Barcelona and they could have perfectly been one of the 15 dead and +100 wounded. This thread will not change our view of tolerance, multiculturalism and diversity, which we are terribly proud of. Initiatives such as SEIMUN contribute towards the consolidations of these fundamental values amongst the youngest and we hope to keep contibuting in the future. Today and more than ever we stand united!

Our co-founder is applying for a scholarship for a Master in International Relations at the prestigious European University in Madrid. Being chosen would mean so much for him, given he has demostrated in the past years a strong interest in International Affairs and Diplomacy. “Hay personas con las que sabes que puedes ir un paso más allá” Responsable, leal, crítico, proactivo, emprendedor, trabajador y creativo debieran ser las palabras clave en la presentación de Jesús Cordero como candidato para cursar el Master de Relaciones Internacionales de la Universidad Europea de Madrid. Graduado en Derecho por la Universidad de Sevilla, actualmente estudia el grado en Ciencias Políticas por la UNED y un curso intensivo en Compliance normativo con la Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI). Respecto a sus logros y trayectoria: Debido a su entorno, Jesús ha trabajado incansablemente desde los 19 años para financiar sus estudios, sin embargo, ha conseguido hacer de lo que otros considerarían una desventaja una retahíla de grandes oportunidades; estudió en Estados Unidos tras su paso por República Checa y Reino Unido, y su amplitud de miras, perspectiva y conciencia social le han llevado a colaborar en proyectos internacionales en países como Bélgica, Grecia y Rusia. Líder natural, es capaz de construir equipos exitosos, ya que sabe distinguir el talento. Su naturaleza emprendedora le ha llevado a buscar oportunidades de crecimiento personal y profesional en muchos nichos: fundó el South European International Model of United Nations de Andalucía, una simulación de los escenarios de decisión internacional que se ha convertido en referencia a nivel europeo y siguiendo esta línea, creó la United Nations Student Association Andalucía (UNSA), asociación juvenil regional que tiene por objetivo generar ciudadanía activa, crítica, responsable y con mentalidad global, considerada por muchos disruptora en su campo & miembro, entre otros, de la Red Española de la Fundación Anna Lindh y del Consejo de la Juventud Andaluz. UNSA es la precursora de UNSA Spain, donde Jesús es vicepresidente, la red nacional de Asociaciones juveniles dedicadas a crear espacios de comunicación e interacción entre la juventud y entidades del sector público y privado en pro de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de Naciones Unidas. Más allá de títulos, logros y ejemplos de superación. Uno de los grandes objetivos de las Universidades ha de ser el de distinguir a esas personas que tienen el potencial de mover a la sociedad al siguiente nivel. Jesús tiene ambas cosas, y sabrá aprovechar todas las oportunidades que se le presenten. Yo he tenido la suerte de darme cuenta de ello y es por eso, procuraré mantenerle a mi lado. Yesterday, this year's Conference Manager, Jesús Cordero and Secretary General, Joaquim Candel met with Spanish Minister of Health, Equality and Social Affairs, Dolors Montserrat in a youth event organized in Barcelona. We hope to have such extraordinary woman and leader next year at our Opening Ceremony. She is without doubt an inspiration for everyone!

Our delegate Kazi Raihanul Bari Rifat, originally from Bangladesh has just returned from his European trip, where he attended SEIMUN. Back home, his work has been recognised by a local newspaper, highlighting the importance MUN conference have in empowering the youth and making their voice be heard.
