You can't manage what you can't see.

FlowBoards connects the dots leadership usually loses: a support ticket triaged today traces all the way to the strategic initiative it serves – with WIP limits and cumulative flow data at every layer in between.

No more guessing where the bottleneck is.

This week in our KMM Cultural Values series: Narrative.

Numbers tell you what is happening. Narrative tells you why.

At Maturity Level 2, something important shifts. Teams stop thinking “my team has done our job” and start asking “what can we do so that our customer gets what they need as soon as possible?”

This shift requires trust between teams – and trust requires a shared identity. Narrative is what builds it. It gives context to the work, creates emotional connection, and helps people understand not just what is flowing through the system, but why it matters to the customer on the other end.

Without narrative, data is just data. With it, data becomes a decision.

Is your organisation’s story on display? Do new hires learn the history? Do your Operations Reviews leave a record future teams can learn from?

Every organisation needs to gather around the campfire and tell its stories.

Narrative is one of seven cultural values that emerge at Maturity Level 2. Learning to lead with them is exactly what KMP Total Immersion training is designed to develop – not in theory, but in a live Kanban system, from day one.

July (Portuguese, with Eduardo Bobsin Machado) and September (with David Anderson) sessions are open.

The World Cup reminds us: goals matter.

But teams don’t win by staring at the goal. They win by reading the field, spotting gaps, moving together, and adjusting under pressure.

Organisations are the same. You need to see the work, the blockers, the dependencies, and the next best move.

That’s what Kanban+ helps teams do.

Because the goal is only the final touch. The system is what gets you there.

Want to learn how to see and manage the system? KMP Total Immersion now happens directly inside Kanban+ 👉 https://kanban.mn.co/spaces/23659261/page

What’s your favorite goal so far? ⚽

Most Kanban training happens outside the system where Kanban is actually practiced.

Slides explain it.
Whiteboards simulate it.
Workshop tools approximate it.

But Kanban is learned through practice.
✅ By managing work.
✅ Seeing flow.
✅ Making decisions.
✅ Improving the system.

That’s why KMP Total Immersion training now happens directly inside Kanban+.

From the first session, you work inside a live enterprise-scale Kanban system with fellow students and David Anderson as your trainer.

Real workflows.
Real collaboration.
Real Kanban practice.

Included in the beta launch offer:
🟢 Kanban Management Professional (KMP) training: KSD + KSI
🟢 Kanban University credential
🟢 5 × 5-hour live sessions
🟢 Total Immersion inside Kanban+

Normally €2,400.
For Lead Different Annual subscribers – €225.

The World Cup started last week. 48 teams, one goal.

Watch any great team and you see the same thing: the ball moves. Constantly. The moment it stops—possession is lost, momentum is gone, the opponent takes over.

Flow works exactly the same way in an organisation.

Delay is almost always the largest contributor to customer dissatisfaction. And most organisations have normalised so much of it that they’ve stopped seeing it at all.

Approval waiting. Dependency blocking. Resource unavailable. Clarification needed. Queue building.

When work stops moving, your organisation is losing possession.

Flow—one of the cultural values in the Kanban Maturity Model—is about keeping the ball moving.

Not just removing blockers. Valuing smoothness. A steady, even arrival of work that is respectful to the people doing it, more predictable for customers, and better for the economics of the business.

The best teams at this World Cup won’t win because they work hardest. They’ll win because they flow best. Smooth passing, clear dependencies, everyone knowing their role and when to pull the next action.

Sound familiar?

Evidence that an organisation values flow: WIP limits in use. Blockers visible and tracked. Aging work flagged before it becomes a crisis. Teams that don’t just cooperate — they actively help each other when something is at risk of getting stuck.

Flow is not a metric. It’s a culture.

Where in your organisation does work wait the longest? 👇

Traditional segmentation uses demographics and socioeconomics. But these categories often put your real customers in the wrong buckets—and lead to products and experiences that miss the mark.

In this episode, let's explore a different approach: segmenting by customer purpose, not by who customers are. An assembly line worker and a general manager might have nothing in common demographically—but if they both want to go fly fishing, they’re the same customer.

When you segment by purpose, you design better products, create better experiences, and deliver exactly what customers actually need.

This is the power of the Fit for Purpose framework applied to market segmentation.
