Mar de peregrino II: Where the Land Overcomes the Sea

30x40cm
Acrylic on canvas

Mar de peregrino is a series of emotional abstract paintings inspired by the Portuguese Camino de Santiago along the coast and by the sensory experience generated by listening to the song “Peregrino.” The works do not depict specific places, but rather states of transition between landscape and emotion, where sea and land function as metaphors for the inner journey of travel.

Through open compositions and suggestive atmospheres, the series explores the relationship between movement and stillness, uncertainty and destination, boundary and arrival. The landscape thus becomes a symbolic space where pictorial matter translates the experience of the path as transformation.

It is the visual embodiment of a mind in motion, one that defines its own boundaries and finds its balance in the firmness of the ground beneath its feet.

Second work in the series. It represents the definitive encounter between emotional fluidity (the blue water) and the firmness of present maturity (the ochre sand). A visual metaphor of stability and control gaining ground over uncertainty.

✨ LATENCY ✨

30x40 cm
Acrylic

The work inhabits the territory of shelter. Against the quietness sought outside — in the green silence of plants and the unfolding of forms — this canvas proposes a calm that turns inward: a space where intensity does not fade, but gathers itself for protection.

Through horizontal sequences where magenta and fire settle over a dark ground, the surface becomes an energetic shell. The rhythmic, parallel gesture introduces a meditative stillness: the necessary order for the inner world to rest, protected from external noise.

The piece suggests that true calm is not always pale or weightless. Sometimes it is a warm core burning silently in depth — an intimate strength where the mind withdraws, sustains itself, and waits.

There are ways of blooming that choose to remain, sheltered in latency.

✨ PULSE ✨

30x40 cm
Acrylic

The work inhabits that space prior to language, where lived experience continues to act within the body as a pulse, even when the mind believes it has been left behind.

✨ BREATH ✨

30x40 cm
Acrylic

Breath emerges as a necessary counterpoint: the space that opens when intense emotion has been inhabited and released. Through vertical brushstrokes in tones of sky blue, pale pink, turquoise, and soft orange, the work constructs a luminous field of extraordinary lightness, where color seems to float rather than settle.

The iridescent palette acts as a record of a transitional state: not the beginning of the emotional process, but its resolution. Each stroke rises with a lightness that deliberately contrasts with the chromatic and gestural density of earlier works, suggesting that clarity is not the absence of intensity, but its transformation.
The pictorial surface evokes the ephemeral quality of light in motion: an aurora, a threshold, the precise instant in which weight turns into air. Respiro does not document an emptiness, but rather the presence of what remains when that which has been held for too long is released.

In this sense, the work proposes that emotional release is not loss, but opening. An inner space made visible. A pause that is also a beginning.
