At university, figure drawing classes were always my favourite. After more than twenty years, I’m diving back into this practice again, and it feels both familiar and completely new.
Thank you to Anatoly Korobeynikov for guiding this experience. I’m happy to explore something new, as his approach is very different from how I learned in the past, and I’m grateful for how comfortable he made it to try a new way. I'm sure I will try this approach in other drawings, too.

The Black Square is not a painting. It is a space. A lived space.
When I first encountered it — not through art history,
but through personal experience —
I understood what Maľevič must have known:
A moment when nothing remains.
And yet, everything becomes possible.
I painted this space —
not to describe it, but to mark that it happened.
In the coming days, I will share that painting here.
Because this space is not theory. It is alive.
