Sedimentation is a persistent challenge in water treatment facilities, especially in treatment basins and open channels where reduced flow velocities can lead to material buildup and potential flow obstruction.

FLOW-3D HYDRO was used to simulate the evolution of packed sediment deposition within a treatment channel. The simulation enables hydraulic engineers to predict sediment accumulation over time, offering a clear picture of where buildup occurs and how different geometries influence the process.

Support for smarter, more resilient infrastructure design

The ability to model multiple sediment types with varying properties

In this case, the initial water depth was set to 1.5 meters, and the inflow to 1 m³/s.
