SPLA-IO Brigadier General Thor Gang Lual has distanced SPLA-IO from an attack that occurred in Wuno on April 26, 2026. The General clarified that those who launched the attack are Nuerwew forces mobilized by Gatkhor Gatluak, SPLA-IG Commissioner of Uror County, together with Jonglei State Governor Riek G*i Kok. The purpose of the attack is to pit the Lou Nuer against the Murle. This is part of the SSPDF’s strategy to promote ethnically driven communal violence and divert citizens’ attention.

The SPLA-IO expressed gratitude to GPAA youth for refusing to be mobilized by the SSPDF, who intend to attack Akobo via the Lekuangole–Akobo route.
