In this , we examine the economic and dimensions of Eid al-Adha through trends in livestock prices, meat consumption, domestic production, and import dependence. 🍽️

Rising inflation and increasing feed, transportation, and import costs have significantly pushed livestock and meat prices higher between 2018 and 2026, placing growing pressure on household purchasing power and reducing per capita meat consumption over recent years. At the same time, demand during Eid al-Adha continues to increase, requiring larger volumes of and expanding reliance on imports to meet seasonal consumption needs. 📈

We also highlight livestock supply trends and the estimated scale of Eid sacrifices across selected Islamic countries, reflecting the broader economic importance of the occasion. 🐑

These dynamics illustrate the intersection between religious traditions, inflationary pressures, food security, and agricultural in Egypt.
