The American University in Cairo Press (AUC Press) is seeking casual staff for the 2026 Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF).

The casual staff will be operating at the AUC Press stand throughout CIBF 2026, scheduled to take place from Wednesday, 21 January to Tuesday, 3 February 2026 at Egypt International Exhibitions Center مركز مصر للمعارض الدولية (EIEC) in New Cairo.

Responsibilities:
• Handling and moving boxes of new book orders
• Organizing tables, stands, and shelves within the hall
• Professionally displaying thousands of books on shelves and tables
• Pricing and selling AUC Press publications and general books
• Compiling lists of sold items

Required Skills:
• Excellent command of English
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong communication skills
• Teamwork skills
• Problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Basic cash-handling or point-of-sale familiarity
• Physically able to handle lifting and standing for extended periods
• Committed and responsible

Please note:

· Shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

· Candidates must have an active bank account to receive payment at the end of the casual hiring.

· Before the book fair, all casual staff will go through two days of training at AUC Bookstores and another two days assisting with the setup, and they are required to start work on Saturday, 17 January, and continue till the end of the book fair.

كيف تساعدنا القراءة في تجاوز الألم؟

في علم النفس والمعالجة النفسية، يُستخدم مصطلح العلاج الببليوتِراپي (Bibliotherapy) للإشارة إلى دور القراءة في دعم الصحة النفسية ومساعدة الأفراد على التعامل مع الأزمات والمشاعر الصعبة.

🔹 لكن ما الذي يجعل الكتاب قادرًا على المساعدة؟

1. إعادة بناء المعنى (Meaning Reconstruction):
الإنسان يتألم حين يفقد "المعنى" لما يحدث له.
القراءة تفتح له احتمالات تفسير جديدة للحياة، وتساعده على إعادة ترتيب أفكاره وشعوره تجاه الألم. 🌿

2. التماهي مع شخصيات القصص (Identification):
عندما نقرأ عن شخصية تعاني مما نعانيه، نشعر أننا لسنا وحدنا.
هذا يعزّز من التفريغ الانفعالي (Catharsis) ويخلق نوعًا من الأمان الداخلي. 💭

3. تفعيل التفكير التأملي (Reflective Thinking):
بعض الكتب تطرح أسئلة وجودية أو تأملية تساعد القارئ على رؤية ذاته ومشكلته من زاوية أعمق. 💭

4. الانفصال الوقتي عن الضغط (Temporary Escape):
الانغماس في عالم خيالي أو قصصي يمنح الدماغ راحة مؤقتة من الإجهاد العصبي، مما يقلل من التوتر ويتيح للنفس فرصة لالتقاط أنفاسها. 💭

📚 لذلك، لا تُعتبر القراءة ترفًا، بل أداة ممكنة في التعافي النفسي والروحي، إذا استُخدمت بوعي، وتم اختيار الكتب المناسبة لحالة القارئ
