Omar’s photograph captures a young lama (Buddhist monk) from the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism playing with a marigold flower after finishing his morning prayers in Thiksey Monastery. Situated in the Indus Valley in the Himalayan mountain range at an elevation of 3600m, Thiksey is one of the largest monasteries in the state of Ladakh in India.
