You always wanted to win the Nobel Prize? 🏅

German universities have traditionally enjoyed a high reputation thanks to their quality.

From 1901 to 2021, 87 Germans were awarded the Nobel Prize, mainly in the fields of chemistry and physics. If that doesn't speak for German universities. This means that the label “Made in Germany” is also a seal of quality for university education. 👏

This is shown by the current international university ranking. A whole 21 German institutions are represented among the top 200 universities in the world. Right at the top is the Technical University of Munich.

Besides good chances of winning a Nobel Prize, people who study in Germany 🇩🇪 also have good chances on the international job market. 😉

Doing sports is a good way to take a break from learning – it's not only good for your body but also beneficial to your mind. Luckily, there are sports programmes offered by your university. There is a wide range of sports to choose from. Participation is free of charge or moderately priced at the most. 🏐 🥋🏊🏸🚣🏋️⛹️🤽🧘‍♂️

What is more: It will help you connect to fellow students and thus help you settle in more quickly in Germany.

Participating in university sports also has its prerequisites. Certain requirements must be met.

1️⃣ To be eligible to participate you have to belong to certain groups of people: (former) students, trainees, university employees or persons closely related to the university (e.g. visiting scholars or students from other universities).

2️⃣ You must have a valid student ID. Make sure it is on display for the current semester. Ideally, your student ID shows a picture of you.

3️⃣ Get information about the offered sports programs by your university. Most universities will have this on their website.

4️⃣ Make sure to register in good time before the program starts. You don’t want to go away empty-handed.

5️⃣ Get some airy sports clothes and any equipment you might need for the sport. However, many universities will also stock what you need most of the time. It’s best to clarify this in advance.

6️⃣ Last but not least: Have fun, try something new, find new hobbies – and make lots of friends!
